An Irresistible Gift Basket Accidentally Delivered

We recently had a baby and my husband and I were ecstatic, friends and family were visiting us on a regularly bases to see the new addition to our family. My family lives nearby, so they been by almost every day to see the newborn, but  unlike my husband’s family who is spread throughout the United States, hasn’t had a chance to see the baby, but we’ve have received  lots of cards, letters and gifts in the mail from them.

I was at home one day and doorbell rang, I got up to see who it was, I notice it was a delivery person with a gift basket. After receiving the gift basket, I place it along the other entire gifts we’ve received from our friends and family. I thought I would wait until my husband got home from work so we could open them together. As we were looking at the gift basket I notice some delicious chocolate.

I really never thought anything about it at the moment and I was go the open the card to see who sent the gift basket after I fed my baby her bottle and put her to sleep. I was thing about the chocolate in the gift basket, so I decided to open the gift basket and have a piece. It was delicious. One chocolate turned to two and two quickly turned to four and before I knew it, I had eaten almost half the basket.

Achievement this wasn’t an easy task, there was a lot of variety of chocolate flavors that I haven’t enjoy for some time now. My habits or craving for chocolates that I had before the baby was born, wasn’t ready to give up as I thought. As I was enjoying the taste of these chocolates my husband came home from work and I mentioned that whoever in his family that sent the gift basket really knew what they were doing.

I consideration a bit strange (expecting a chocolate gift basket, if anything) however once I taste these delicious chocolates, I thought whoever sent this gift basket of chocolates must of knew I was ready for a chocolate fix and a break from having my first baby. Then I realize that I forgot to check the gift card, so I could thank them. I asked my husband to look at the card.

To my surprise, this gift basket that I have consumed half way was intended for our next door neighbors. It was accidentally delivered to the wrong address. Here I am, relaxing on the couch with my mouth full of chocolates when my husband breaks the news to me. I look at him with a shocked impression and said “What are we going to do?”

He started laughing, which made me start laughing as I now saw the humor in the situation. We ordered a new basket to be delivered the next day for our neighbor and also went by to explain what had happened. We all had a good laugh over it and I was relieved since I had never formally met our neighbor and didn’t know what to expect.

I’m actually quite glad that this happened. I got to meet our neighbor and learned a valuable lesson about checking the card before you open the gift. I also know what I will send my friends and family after they welcome a new addition.  I’m sending chocolate.
